“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth…”

(Exodus 20; 4, King James Version)

  1. And lo, it did come to pass, that after their time in the wilderness and after they had laboured long to write the songs of praise that resideth within their hearts that the chosen ones, yea even those whom the Lord did favour above all others, did arrive in the promised land.
  2. It came to pass that they did journey from the North to the South, from the West to the East and did find themselves at Creation, even the beginning and the end of all things that were pleasing unto them.
  3. And in Creation they didst find favour with the one who was called Alan.
  4. Alan had sought the ones who would save him and even those who would save the nations youth for many years.
  5. Verily, verily, I say unto you that Alan had fallen under the spell of many false prophets and had been led to believe that he had found the One when, yea verily, he had not.
  6. But now Alan did find himself at the feet of Liam and Noel and he knew of an certainty that, at last, he had found the true voice. Yea, he had found the ones who would lead the youth of the nation out of bondage and into the promised land.
  7. Alan rejoiced.
  8. Now it came to pass that Liam and Noel did record an song, yea even an song that would fill the ears, lift the hearts and raise the spirits of the youth.
  9. Verily, verily I say unto you that this song was called “Supersonic” and it was good.
  10. Alan did listen unto the song and Alan said unto Liam and Noel; “This is an exceptionally pleasing song unto mine ears.”
  11. And lo, I say unto you that “Supersonic” was brought to the people by broadcast on the radio and by performance on the television and wherever people were when they didst hear the melody and didst give heed unto the words of the song they were lifted up.
  12. Yea, “Supersonic” didst make the people who heard it feel good, even in their hearts.
  13. And it came to pass that their was an television show which was known as “The Word” and the youth of the nation did watch “The Word” on an Friday evening.
  14. And verily, verily I say unto you that “The Word” was an load of old rubbish really but that nostalgia dost make those who were there at the time remember it fondly. And lo, I say unto thee, that those people forget about that Katy woman who was an abomination.
  15. And it came to pass that one day Alan did speak unto Liam and Noel and did bring them good tidings of great joy and these were the words which Alan did speak unto them;
  16. Boys, you’re gonnae be oan The Wurd!
  17. Liam and Noel did rejoice.
  18. And so it came to pass that the time for their appearance on “The Word” drew close and Liam and Noel were not sore afraid as others were for they knew that they were chosen above all others to bring the good news of rock and even of roll unto the children of men.
  19. And it came to pass that Liam and Noel were introduced by an greasy haired, 1950’s throwback who was known by all as Mark Lamarr. Mark was an funny man and didst bring joy to all who heard him.
  20. When Mark had introduced Liam and Noel they did play “Supersonic” to the gathered worshippers within the studio but lo they played with such an passion and an fire that the sound did reach into every home in the land and all who heard it were converted.
  21. Verily, verily I say unto thee that the plans of the Gods of rock and roll will not be thwarted and those who seek to do so will be smitten with sore afflictions.
  22. And on the dawning of the next day it did come to pass that the hearts of the children of men were turned away from all that had come before, yea they were turned from the voice of their fathers and were now followers, yea even were they true believers in Oasis.
  23. Here endeth the lesson.
